\nThe company S\u00fcdamekodud, which operates nursing homes, is investing almost one million euros in the expansion of the K\u00e4ru nursing home.
\nMartin Kukk, head of O\u00dc S\u00fcdamekodud, said that last year they made a commitment to double the size of the K\u00e4ru S\u00fcdamekodu nursing home, and they are fulfilling that promise. \u201cWe have now signed contracts related to construction work and financing, and I can say that if no unexpected obstacles arise, then in the first half of next year more than 50 elderly people in need of care will be able to move to K\u00e4ru,\u201d he said.
\nThe expansion of K\u00e4ru S\u00fcdamekodu has begun, design work is underway, and construction is planned to start in August. The planned completion date is April 2019.
\n\u201cWith the expansion of the nursing home, we want to create more than 50 service places for elderly people with different care needs, and we also plan to establish a department specialized in caring for people with dementia,\u201d explained K\u00e4ru S\u00fcdamekodu manager Heili Burmeister.
