The company S\u00fcdamekodud, which operates nursing homes, has opened a newly completed extension of the K\u00e4ru nursing home, where 57 new residents will move into modern living conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n The company\u2019s board member Martin Kukk<\/strong> said at the opening of the nursing home that, with an investment of around one million euros, a new service unit is being created to provide a comfortable and safe living environment for people with dementia. \u201cIn 2017, we made a commitment to the municipality to create additional care places, and the opening of the nursing home expansion confirms that we are keeping our promises,\u201d added Kukk.<\/p>\n \u201cWe started planning the extension of the nursing home at the end of 2016, and a year and a half later, after preparing the initial brief, design, and construction, we have reached the point where we can open the doors of our new nursing home to more than fifty new residents,\u201d said K\u00e4ru S\u00fcdamekodu manager Heili Burmeister<\/strong>.\nThe nursing home extension is designed to ensure that elderly people with dementia can live and move comfortably in K\u00e4ru \u2013 safe walking paths with signage will be created, and the interior design will take into account the needs of people with memory impairments.<\/p>\n \u201cSoon we will also build a secure fence around the building, with special areas created for planting and other leisure activities, as well as cozy spots for walkers to rest,\u201d added Heili Burmeister. According to Burmeister, the biggest challenge in expanding the nursing home is the shortage of workforce. \u201cFinding professional and motivated team members is one of the biggest challenges, but I believe we will manage step by step.
