The company Südamekodud, which operates nursing homes, is investing almost one million euros in the expansion of the Käru nursing home.
Martin Kukk, head of OÜ Südamekodud, said that last year they made a commitment to double the size of the Käru Südamekodu nursing home, and they are fulfilling that promise. “We have now signed contracts related to construction work and financing, and I can say that if no unexpected obstacles arise, then in the first half of next year more than 50 elderly people in need of care will be able to move to Käru,” he said.
The expansion of Käru Südamekodu has begun, design work is underway, and construction is planned to start in August. The planned completion date is April 2019.
“With the expansion of the nursing home, we want to create more than 50 service places for elderly people with different care needs, and we also plan to establish a department specialized in caring for people with dementia,” explained Käru Südamekodu manager Heili Burmeister.
According to Burmeister, the biggest challenge in expanding the nursing home is finding professional and motivated staff. The expansion of the Käru nursing home will create an additional 15 jobs.
