The Estonian care home operator Südamekodud is acquiring the Valkla special care complex from the state-owned AS Hoolekandeteenused, which provides special welfare services. A new elderly care home will be established there.
At the end of 2020, AS Hoolekandeteenused put the Valkla care home properties up for public auction. The purchase and sale agreement will be signed with Südamekodud, the private care home operator that submitted the winning bid. The buildings will be handed over to the new owner by June at the latest, Südamekodud announced.
“Our goal is to reconstruct the approximately 6,000-square-meter Valkla complex and create a safe and modern living environment for older people. In designing the new environment, we are drawing inspiration from well-functioning Nordic models,” said Martin Kukk, Chairman of the Board of Südamekodud. He added that the company will begin recruiting new employees in the first phase. According to Kukk, the company will need several dozen new staff members in Valkla already this year.
Südamekodud is a company operating care homes for the elderly.
Currently, the company operates Käru Südamekodu in Türi municipality, Värska Südamekodu in Setomaa, Lihula Südamekodu in Lääneranna, Saaremaa Südamekodu in Saaremaa, Kunda Südamekodu in Viru-Nigula, and Piigaste Südamekodu in Kanepi. Südamekodud now has over 400 service places and employs more than 170 people across Estonia.
