In Merivälja Südamekodu, Three Ladies Celebrated Their 100th and Beyond Birthdays in January

In Merivälja Südamekodu in Tallinn, January 2024 brought a remarkable event: although birthday celebrations take place every month, it is very rare that three residents reach 100 years or more at the same time.
In Merivälja Südamekodu, January celebrations included Mrs. Laine-Marianne’s 100th birthday (born 10.01.1924), Mrs. Asta’s 101st birthday (born 29.01.1923), and Mrs. Hilja’s 102nd birthday (born 25.01.1922).
The elderly ladies living in Merivälja Südamekodu, which is home to 130 residents, are all in fairly good health and celebrated together with their loved ones, other January birthday celebrants, and all residents on January 16. The performers were Boris Lehtlaan and Are Jaama, and the birthday celebrants were warmly congratulated.

What Is the Secret to the Ladies’ Longevity?

Asta, who turned 101, said that the secret to longevity is morning exercise, then a shower, and a strong cup of coffee!
Laine-Marianne, who celebrated her 100th birthday, said that the secret of a long life is the spirit of persistence — to act independently, to keep pushing forward, and, in her opinion, always to have something to strive for!
Hilja, who turns 102 on January 25, said she feels very well and sometimes, when she has no pain, even feels like a ten-year-old — for example, when her daughter visits. On such occasions, she joked, one might even be a little mischievous. As for her longevity, she said her secret is to stop working at the right time — it’s important not to have strict schedules or obligations imposed by others.
