Care Home Director: The Coronavirus Won’t Take Away Our Christmas Joy

Elderly residents who remain in isolation greet their loved ones through the windows before Christmas, send photos of themselves by the Christmas tree, and organize their own plays and concerts.
“This Christmas is truly special. So many children have made Christmas cards and sent them to care homes. We are receiving a lot of attention. I think care homes haven’t had this much attention in this entire century as they have this year,” said Heili Burmeister, head of Käru Südamekodu.
Relatives can visit Käru Südamekodu only by prior registration. “This allows us to properly space out visits and do everything possible to keep the virus out of the building. Visits are already booked through New Year’s, and we’re not taking any more for now,” Burmeister explained.
